Welcome Human

“The two words ‘information’ and ‘communication’ are often used interchangeably, but they signify quite different things. Information is giving out; communication is getting through.” – spoken by American journalist, Sydney J Harris (McLeroy K, Simons-Morton B, Wendel M, 2012, p. 275)

The aim of communication is to partake in the exchange of ideas, information or news to stimulate some type of understanding. Through this understanding maybe new thoughts will be brought to light, maybe more questions will be raised or maybe even your outlook will be changed. That’s the whole process and result of effective communication. So through this blog, it is my hope to communicate to you in some way.

To give a bit of background… I am in my third year at UOW studying a Bachelor of Communications and Media – so given that the word ‘communication’ is in my degree name, let’s hope I have flair for it. At the end of my studying, my ambition is to be working in public relations, hopefully building my skills as a ‘professional communicator’ as I like to call it. While at UOW I discovered my interest to get into public relations, which has now been a positive motivation for me to finish my degree and get into the workforce.

So enjoy your scrolling and reading on my blog – I sincerely hope that you can appreciate some of the ideas put forth.

Sarah
